REFERENCE: TSLJW0119 JOB TITLE: Project Officer LOCATION: Rusper, near Crawley Sussex SALARY & BENEFITS: £22,500 over two years WORKING HOURS: (15 hours per week) RESPONSIBLE TO: The Rector THE COMPANY: Our client is a charity situated in the beautiful countryside of Surrey. We are now seeking a Project Officer to join their team in Rusper, near Crawley Sussex. THE ROLE: Funding has just been secured from the Heritage Lottery Fund to run a two-year project exploring the joint legacy of Hilaire Belloc and Lucy Broadwood. We are looking for an individual or organisation to manage this project. We are looking for people with a proven record in running community heritage projects and working with volunteers. Duties to include: To set up and lead a steering committee, to include those with expertise and user-interest in the songs and literacy legacy of Lucy Broadwood and Hilaire Belloc. To identify suitable partner venues in which to hold song and learning workshops and to liaise with the partner venues throughout the term of the project. To appoint specialist song teachers and with them run the song and learning workshops. To organise and arrange the publicity for the song and learning workshops. To establish and manage groups of volunteers undertaking local heritage research. To work with the heritage learners and specialist tutor to select the songs of Lucy Broadwood and Hilaire Belloc to be learned and recorded. To work with local recording studios and CD publishers to produce recordings of the songs. To oversee the writing and production of the project booklet and song map. To oversee the writing, design and production of the project information boards. To lead on the creation of the project website and appoint a qualified webmaster. To write and distribute publicity relating to the project, including Press. Maintain records and undertake monitoring of the project's progress. Organise and co-ordinate the launch of both the book and the CD. To carry out other duties identified by the Rector and steering committee. THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate will have a Degree in history, English literature, landscape studies or similar and have a background in adult education. We would be particularly interested in applications from those with experience in teaching traditional folk songs. Key Experience/ Characteristics for the Project Officer position based in Rusper, near Crawley Sussex: Essential criteria for the Project Officer role in Rusper, near Crawley Sussex Adult Teaching qualification (City and Guilds 7307 or 7407 or Cert Ed.) At least three years' experience of teaching in the adult education sector.
